BETHLEHEM, Pennsylvania – United for Libraries, in partnership with Lehigh University and Bethlehem (Pa.) Area Public Library, will designate the library a Literary Landmark in honor of Hilda Doolittle (H.D.) on Friday, Sept. 8, 4 p.m.
Growing up, H.D. (1886-1961) lived in a home located just across the plaza from the library, where city hall now stands. Her innovative and experimental poetry and prose established her as a leading Modernist artist in the 1910s and 1920s. She remains a key literary figure in the Lehigh Valley.
United for Libraries to dedicate the Warren (Ohio)-Trumbull County Public Library a Literary Landmark
United for Libraries to designate the Sonoma County (Calif.) Library a Literary Landmark in honor of Charles M. Schulz
SANTA ROSA, California – United for Libraries, in partnership with the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center will designate the Sonoma County Library a Literary Landmark in honor of Charles M. Schulz on Thursday, Aug. 10 at 1 p.m.
As a resident of Sonoma County for more than 40 years, Schulz (1922-2000) is remembered for bringing to life stories of the Peanuts gang, including Charlie Brown, Snoopy and Lucy, who are seen through comic strips, books, television and the big screen.
BRYN MAWR, Pennsylvania -- The Texas State Library and the Nebraska Library Commission have renewed their statewide membership in United for Libraries, granting more than 1,300 of Friends of the Library groups, Foundations and Boards of Trustees group membership in United for Libraries and the American Library Association (ALA).
TROY, Michigan – United for Libraries, along with Troy (Mich.) Public Library and the Troy Communication Foundation, honored AT&T Michigan with a Major Benefactor Citation during an event at the library on June 29.
During the event, Troy Public Library (TPL) unveiled their Donor Wall to invited Endowment Fund donors. The TPL Endowment Fund first launched in September 2016 with a goal of reaching $20,000 by the end of 2016. The occasion marked how quickly that goal was surpassed and honored the first group of donors to ensure the endowment fund’s success.

Library have been recognized with United for Libraries’ Baker & Taylor Awards for outstanding efforts to support their library. Each group receives $1,000 and a clock from Baker & Taylor to honor their achievements. The groups were recognized at United for Libraries’ Gala Author Tea, sponsored by ReferenceUSA, at the ALA Annual Conference in Chicago.
